Kate Middleton Wears One Princess Diana’s Favorite Pieces That Has Been Locked Away For Years

Royal families possess classic pieces of jewelry that have been passed down for generations. These pieces of jewelry soon become associated with the particular Royal family .Lover’s Knot, a tiara worn by Queen Elizabeth II and then by Princess Diana, is one such piece of jewelry of the Royal family of England.

Princess Diana was known for her timeless beauty and impeccable sense of style. Always dressed to perfection, she owned one of the best wardrobes among all royalty in the world. Her aesthetic sense of dressing always took the world by storm and was followed very closely by media all over the world.

One of her favorite pieces of jewelry was a tiara that was passed down to her by Queen Elizabeth II. Called the Cambridge Lover’s Knot, this piece of jewelry was designed for Queen Elizabeth by the Royal Jewelers Garrard. The jewelers were assigned the task of creating a piece of jewelry by putting together the pearls and diamonds that had been owned by the Royal family since ages. They gladly agreed and put together the beautiful and magnificent ‘Lover’s Knot’ tiara.
After Queen Elizabeth passed down the tiara to Princess Diana, it became her favorite piece of jewelry and she wore it to all important Royal functions. She wore it despite the fact that it was quite heavy since it was created with a lot of diamonds and pearls.

After the untimely death of Princess Diana in 1997, the Lover’s Knot was taken back to the Buckingham Palace and was treasured there until Diana’s son Prince William got married to the lovely Kate Middleton. She rose to the position of being the rightful owner of this little treasure when it was passed down to her recently.
Kate Middleton, who is also known to be quite a fashionista, soon made it her favorite piece of jewelry just like her late mother-in-law had. She started wearing it to all the Royal functions just like Princess Diana did. Her appearance at the Diplomatic Reception thrown by the Buckingham Palace, complete with the tiara on her head made her look just as stunning as a Princess of her stature should look. It seems that every princess is quite fond of this tiara!

The inspiration of the Lover’s Knot dates back to the year 1814 when a similar tiara was made by Queen Elizabeth II’s grandmother, Queen Augusta of Hesse. Married to the seventh son of King George III, she had got a tiara designed for herself, which in turn was the inspiration behind the Lover’s Knot. Needless to say, it was a prized possession of the then Queen as it was made perfectly with intricate details.
Kate Middleton is now the proud owner of this marvelous piece of jewelry and we hope that she keeps wearing it just like Princess Diana did.
